One thing I can never understand is that the poll considers the netizens as one entity! However, the fundamental difference between the modern society and the primitive society is the individualism. There is no such a thing the netizens the Chinese neither the Frenchmen.
Although it may not be apparent, the whole poll may very well underline the fact that, indeed, netizens can't be considered as a undivided social entity. Remember that although you may have the impression that questions are being manipulative, they are not supposed to reflect anykind of opinion or bias from the pollster :)
Please give me a little credit and don't jump on conclusions yet :)
Typically something shows only one side of this issue, like nationalism (I don't like nationalism at all and I could hardly mark my opinion on this poll), like collectivism etc.
If you accept that sometimes the point is about showing degrees in nationalism rather than prove or refute the very existence of nationalism, maybe you'll think the question make a little more sense :)
As my studies give the possibilities to take an advantage in this field, I would like to say, the poll is not a good prediction model and will have a considerable error rate.
Of course it will - but as someone pointed out, a very conservative approach AND an important involvement from the users, that turn this mere poll into something closer to an interview, has a great scientifical value. Once again, every opinion is good to be heard.
May I ask where you are studying?
Finally, as the reaction we can see in this forum, we know that a great part of them have the same feeling about the poll. They cannot really express their opinion, their answers are used to say something else and then it will be considered as a scientific report!
Again, although the reactions posted on an internet thread are always interesting, they are nowhere more scientific than the poll itself. Internet works in a way that gives people with a grief a louder tribune - the last years event were a perfect example of this mechanism. People who agree or people who don't have anything to object tend to remain in the shadow of those who want to voice their dissatisfaction, because of a characterized mobilization process. Although I totally respect what has been said earlier in this thread, including the bad vibes, I have to underline the fact that people expressed their satisfaction in the poll itself too, sometimes very gladly, without posting anything in this very thread, and without any kind of publicity. As long as I keep the balance in check, I have no reason to believe I am heading straight into a wall. :)
Thank again for your constructive criticism and your participation Aubonj!
