Delphic是来自英国曼彻斯特的乐队,4位成员包括Richard Boardman,Matt Cocksedge,James Cook,Dan Hadley,他们的音乐融合了Electronic,Rock,Dance。开首篇Clarion Call就给人一种Shoegazing加电子的感觉,低声的吟唱,逐渐加强的节奏,带你走入属于Delphic的电音空间。Counterpoint是Delphic的第一支单曲,发行于2009年4月,被收录在《实况足球2010原声音乐》。第二支单曲This Momentary发行于09年8月,其MV获UK Music Video Awards的三个提名。BBC十分看好这支乐队,并认为Acolyte是2010年第一张伟大的专辑。
近年被冠以Indie-Disco之標籤的樂團可謂有如雨後春筍般湧現,不禁叫樂迷眼花撩亂。來自曼徹斯特的Delphic是名單上的一份子,然而他們來得與眾不同,因為樂隊能夠滿載美譽而來,更是今年”BBC Sound of 2010”的十五支樂隊之一。
雖然〈This Momentary〉以Post-Punk式Bassline引出,但卻漸凝聚成Underworld般的高壓Techno電音張力,不難混上他們的名曲〈Born Slippy .NUXX〉來。〈Submission〉正是有如New Order那種帶著憂鬱神傷曲子的Electro Rock歌曲,尤其是酷似在1989年專輯《Technique》時期的聲音。新單曲〈Doubt〉的人聲Sample前奏令我聯想到Hot Chip的〈Ready For The Floor〉,歌曲有流暢的節奏馳聘,到了下半部分的結他響起亦無疑New Order / Bernard Sumner到不得了。
長達近九分鐘純音樂主題曲〈Acolyte〉更好比為Orbital如流水行雲的美化電子舞曲加入Indie動能肌理,也彷彿帶我回到Progressive House時代。〈Remain〉在Deep House Groove與鋼琴伴奏下,是萬般美不勝收的一曲。
由Handz執導的〈Counterpoint〉被視為向俄國導演Andrei Tarkovsky致敬;Dave Ma執導的〈This Momentary〉將拍攝於切爾諾貝爾(Chernobyl)核電廠鄰近市鎮的片段剪輯拼合而成,鏡頭幽美而跟歌曲節奏絲絲入扣,此片令他們在UK Music Video Awards獲得最佳電影藝術、最佳剪輯等等共四項提名;而Andrew Huang執導的〈Doubt〉之人體與金屬,又是那麼酷。

Johnny McElhone 贝斯手Johnny McElhone来自于不寻常的性格背景。他的父亲Frank是格拉斯哥传奇式的民区Glasgow Gorbal的政治首领,Johnny从小生长在那里,他的家一直颠簸在追随着政治领袖的路上,他父亲曾是苏格兰著名政治人物Tony Benn的私人秘书。Johnny最后见到父亲是在1982年驱车送老人去市区参加抗议游行。父亲因为心脏病突发,死于热爱的工作中。当Johnny回忆起这段过去时,说道:“我很高兴当时没有离开乐队,那之后,母亲Helen接管了多年组织选民的工作。我为它们而骄傲,他们是诚挚的,为他人他们花去了太多的时间。”

起初,有一支名为Alice Cooper的乐队,由一个叫Vincent Damon Furnier的主唱领导。在这个主唱的一手策划下,乐队在开发重金属的戏剧性和暴力色彩方面领先一步,他们把音乐搞成了恐怖电影和杂耍,他们在舞台表演方面的吓人玩艺包括:电椅、断头台、鲜血(假的)、大蟒蛇和Furnier阴森的扮相。
当然事实不仅如此。他们在音乐上也有相当的成就,只是噱头太多影响了人们的注意力。取自六十年代吉他流行乐生猛简单的Riff和旋律表现了摇滚乐最基本但又最迷人的地方,甚至在乐队探索迷幻音乐和艺术摇滚时也是一样。
在原来的乐队解散后,Furnier开始以Alice Cooper为名进行独立发展,此时他的音乐不再像以前那样充满夸张活跃,而是转化成了直来直去的重金属。不过他在舞台表演中保留了那些令他获得“休克摇滚之王”称号的小道具。
Furnier的第一支乐队称作the Earwigs后来在1965年改名the Spiders,之后又用过Nazz的名字。The Spiders和the Nazz都曾在当地发行过小有一名的单曲。1968年他发现已经有一支叫作Nazz的乐队后,将队名改为Alice Cooper。关于这个名字,据说来源于Furnier在一次占卜中获得的启发,在那次占卜中他被告知他是17世纪一个同名女巫的转世化身。乐队包括主唱Furnier(后来他自称Alice Cooper)、吉他手Mike Bruce和Glen Buxton贝司手Dennis Dunaway和鼓手Neal Smith。1968年乐队前往加州并遇见了Frank Zappa的经纪人Shep Gordon,他将Alice Cooper收归他的新公司Straight Records。

Alice Cooper 的音樂, 獨樹一格, 有人姑且稱之為 "Shock rock", 翻成中文的意思是 < 休克搖滾 >, 大概就是說, 這種音樂的表現已超乎常人想像, 聽了會立刻休克的搖滾樂即可稱之,但我覺得還不如稱之為 < 白沫搖滾 >,還來的貼切得多, 顧名思義, 就是聽了後就會吐白沫, 倒地不起的那種搖滾.
Alice Cooper 只不過是文明人劣根性的一個寫照罷了,他總是喜歡抓條蟒蛇拿在手上把玩,可是好景不常, 終於有一天,Cooper這條最心愛的蟒蛇也被他給活活的玩死, 它的死對 Cooper的打擊相當得大, 一連幾天都寢食難安; 他也喜歡歌唱到一半,便將活生生的小動物扔下台下, 而台下歌迷也不甘勢弱, 搶著將它撕裂, 台上台下血肉模糊,真是慘不忍睹,這也就算了,Alice Cooper 居然也不放過布織的洋娃娃,還
對它作些 SM 的動作,然後施行五馬分屍;那那充氣的小底滴更是不用說了,還拿來 K 歌迷的腦袋瓜子呢?! 當然,舞台上盡是鞭子,斷頭臺,電椅也就不足為奇了.

Veland 和Napalm Records取得了联系,并且和Terje Refsnes合作,在Sound Suite Studios灌制大碟At Sixes and Sevens。这张完全由Morten个人所包办创作的首张专辑,大约花费6个月的时间才录制完成所有的曲目。期间他吸收了好朋友Kristian Gundersen作为同伴。Gundersen担任结他手和部分的男声演唱。最后来自同乡的键盘手Hans Henrik Varland也加入了SIRENIA。唱片中的女声由仙音法裔歌手Fabienne Gondamin演绎。她美丽的声音给乐队的音乐带来了更多的亮点。曾经在TRISTANIA 、THE SCARR和THE SINS OF THY BELOVED专辑中现身的小提琴手Pete Johansen也在乐手阵容之中,他独特的小提琴声充满了丰富的情感和古典主义的美感。
