What is more important should be things you've learned, not that piece of paper, although I know for people who do not know you, they can only juge you through your academical result...  Sad but true!!

Yes and no, as in English there are special terms to translate a course or a major.  The one you did was a litteral translation.

Are you sure???  In that era, no modern facility, you spend your time making fire to prepare everything you need by yourself for cooking, you spend lots of time while traveling...  I don't think they were less busy, they just busy in a different way.
