ITINERARIES
Itineraries: From 4 days to 8 days. (map, programs) with the departure either from Luxor or Aswan.
A classic 4-day program on board a cruise includes:
- Full board accommodations for 3 nights: 2 nights cruising on the Nile, 1 night at Luxor.
- Sightseeing at Edfu, Kom Ombo. - Sightseeing at Luxor, Thebes and Aswan.
An ideal solution for independent travelers is to book for 2days/2nights full-board accommodations on a cruise without adding any organized sightseeing tour.
- As the boat only cruise on the Nile for 2 nights, it is not necessary to spend the third night on board.
- Stay at a hotel in Luxor for the third night, it is less expensive and more comfortable than staying on board.
- Sightseeing tours proposed by many cruises often make tourists run through several sights in a short period of time. Go sightseeing by yourself !!
1. Book through a leading travel agency, like Kuoni and ClubMed. Advantage: Luxury facilities as well as excellent services can be guaranteed. Disadvantage: their price is much higher than the price offered by Egyptian travel agencies.
2. Book through an Egyptian travel agency directly (see Useful Links), who offers a large choice of cruises from four stars to luxury six stars. Price starts from $162 for a classic 4days/3nights program on a five-star cruise. Tips: Check carefully what is included in a package, boarding time, as well as cancellation conditions if you have to pay in advance.
3. Book through a local tour operator upon arriving at Aswan or Luxor: Visit the boat before fixing a price. You can choose a 2-night stay instead of a 3-night. Negotiate the price from 30 to 50 percent of the price proposed by the operator. It was Montasser Mohamed who arranged the Nile Cruise for us. One night full board in a double room: $60 per person, for a single room: $75 per person. The price was quite reasonable, cheaper than a package booked online. Montasser's phone number: 002 012 3359105. His email: montasser2000@yahoo.com. He can also book three-star hotels in Aswan and Luxor at a fairly low price. Payment: cash in us$.
Things to Check: what is included in the price: accommodations, full board, soft drinks, wines, sightseeing tours (size of the group, tourist car, English guide). Check the boarding time as different boats leave Aswan or Luxor at different time during the day !
